The enduring appeal of some of the ornaments featured in the photographs, interests me, as does understanding how a cross-section...

With my interest of biodiversity, ecology, and the world we live in, I have incorporated my concerns of the extinction of bees into my art and my FMP. The concept of this installation was to divide a large plaster tree into two parts showing the life we could have against what our planet could turn into if we do not consider the damage that we as a nation are creating. The mould for the tree was formed using cardboard and brown tape to strengthen the structure and at over 2 meters high it took 10 buckets of plaster to fill and weighed 25 kilograms when filled. The tree was layed on 2 pallets and divided to show the positive side of bees, honey and flowers thriving and on lush green grass, these were all created using resin and incorporated honey essences. Whereas the other half of the tree shows dead fronds, a crushed beehive made of chicken wire and hopsack and damages to the tree.
