I was inspired to create this gown initially by my work experience with the National Trust and research into an 1870-1 day dress featured in Patterns of Fashion by Janet Arnold. This is my version of the same, made for my personal project as an alternative wedding gown for the character Rosa Garland. I chose the colour palette as a play on her name and the style of dress which was very up to the minute for the time period of the drama. I wanted to reflect Rosa’s bohemian character, but also the softness of her affection for her betrothed.
