My name is Kieran Lamb I am a 22 year old university student and have just finished my degree in...

“Design on the Skin” focuses on the vast history of tattoos and where tattoos came from. It delves into the history of tattoos, such as, the first ice man who was called Otzi who was discovered buried in the Alps with mysterious lines across his body which is the first ever documented tattoos. Also other parts of history that are discussed are the ancient Egyptians and Romans, the Egyptians used tattoos as a decorative form of body art and the Romans used tattoos to label slaves and criminals by branding them. These are facts that might be unknown by the viewers and grab their interest.

I aim to show that the history of tattooing is vast and expansive but the roots of tattooing has helped the art of tattooing develop into what it is like today. “Design on the Skin” focuses upon various interviews and facts. These are shown so it gives an insight into how the history and creative art has helped shape the industry of tattooing into the present day. It also shows how the future of tattooing could change. There have been many programs made which show just the art of tattooing; I have tried to show the historical side and facts that the viewer may not have been aware of. Also I obtained a interview with a tattoo artist and they explained how the pandemic had effected their business and how they will have to adapt in the future.
