Jordan is an aspiring photographer and cinematographer who has an interest in film and the way that we use narrative...

Throughout my final major project I have been looking into the world of emotion as I feel that I can express myself within this topic because of the way that I am currently going through depression and anxiety. I chose to carry out this topic because of the way that mental health is seen as taboo. I want to show the audience how people feel and that they don’t need to hide it. They don’t have to be strong for other people when they don’t feel it themselves. In order to communicate these emotions, I have used the cinematic language of semiotics to show these ideas without an obvious narrative.

My aim for this project was to show people what it is really like to be dealing with depression and I want to show them that they aren’t alone and to seek help if they need it. When the viewer is looking at the work, I would like to get the message out there that depression is not a joke and it’s a real thing. Throughout this project I hope to understand how to get an emotional connection with the viewer and use images of myself to build a connection with them.

Give this some love
