Ewan is in his final year of University studying "(BA Hons) TV and Film Production" and is on course to...

In the photos shown that is a small sample of the practical work done through university. Not only is there practical College and University work. There also has been a few commission pieces done (un-paid) as well as personal projects to better editing skills on YouTube.

Film Description – Covid is a documentary that asks normal everyday people their personal opinions of the government handling through this current pandemic. Interviewing a variety of people from: Key Workers, Family Members, a BBC worker and even a Head Nurse. This documentary is a deep dive into the mindset of members of the UK public.

There is an attempt for every single short film / music video filmed to make them feel different not only stylistically but in tone as well. There also has been effort to include some form of reference or tributes to certain films in every short / music video. “Operation Apocalypse” had a dark red hue which was inspired by the Giallo film “Suspiria”, The floating box scene in the documentary “Covid” is a subtle reference to the film “American Beauty”. The list of subtle tributes / references is long. The love and effort put into these short films and music videos is shown. No matter if the production is good or bad the love and effort is put in.

Trying to be different from the crowd of people is hard… especially when it comes to film making. To some people these films would be considered to be stepping stones, but not here. Every practical piece of work has shown not only strengths in production but also weaknesses. These films aren’t stepping stones but a piece of how that production has changed me not only personal but professionally.

Covid-19 may have disrupted plans for Final Major Projects with “Happy Pill” being suspended until further notice, but not cancelled. Even though with limitations the creation of “Covid” has shown how to make short films / documentaries in creative and interesting ways. So taking the lessons learned from this pandemic, it will not only help improve production skills in general, but gives more time to the overall sensitive subjects that are portrayed in “Happy Pill” and would give time to get a proper production team together and be more resourceful and smarter with producing films.

Give this some love
