Inspired by the world of pop culture and nightclubs, which have been closed during the pandemic, 'That's Life' aims to recreate the escapism and removal from reality these sources provide.

The over-designed furniture, iridescent and neon finishes, and coloured lights create a psuedo-domestic environment within a gallery space, and through their materiality twist and bend reality in a similar fashion to the designed, idealistic, and fantastical world of pop culture and nightclubs, which exist in a bizarre realm away from our domestic lives.

Music remains one of the main interests and influences in this work, with the title deriving from the Gina X Performance track, 'No G.D.M'.

There is also a curated playlist accompanying and playing within the space. Recent research leading to this work has been exploring the relationship between art and music, and in particular electronic music.

It's structure and composition such as rhythm, pattern and melody, translates directly into the artist's abstracted and curated visual language of the space and the work within it.
